MANILA, Philippines -- With a heart of daring young man diving headlong into a vast ocean of love, James Leonard Ibarra on Saturday reiterated his commitment to the league and extinguished reports of his possible resignation as commissioner of SBMA, pledging his unconditional love for the world's first ever virtual cage league.
"To show my love and devotion to the people who matter most to me, my family and all of my children, and to assure the league I truly care for, I am today pledging my unconditional love for my home, the SBMA and I'm not, I repeat, infinity times, I'm not tendering my immediate resignation, not once but twice!" Ibarra, his voice as high as an eagle can fly one big fight, read his statement before a jam-packed press conference at Decades Bar, Ana Roces Avenue.
"It is an easy decision, as easy as A-B-C, and I know that whatever happens, even if I have given my heart to someone special, I can continue to lead the league to greater heights. I have always believed that the SBMA is bigger than any one man, one team, one player or one team owner, and I'm just a piece of the puzzle," he continued.
Comish's statement came on the heels of an emergency board meeting Friday morning at a posh hotel in Cubao, Quezon City , where members of the board, reportedly met after the league top honcho revealed that he is now attached for the first time in league history.
A source who refused to be identified told tabloids, that the teams were both happy but worried that Comish will not have enough time for important league matters and that there will be a conflict of interest in his new blooming relationship.
A separate source said that, with the 2007 Protect 8 scheduled sometime in October, the board initially thought of tapping Barangay Captain Andre Cleofe to perform Ibarra's erstwhile capacity in an interim manner.
The next season opens October of this year with "Super Sunday" where all six teams will play simultaneously, including the newest league addition --- the Denver Nuggets.
The governors were all smiles after the presscon especially after Comish assured them that he will continue to serve the league and that he has found a new First Lady which he will introduce soon.
“Okay yan, okay!” Empoy Chua, CEO and LA Governor exclaimed.
“This is it! The time has come. I'm sure this wonderful blessing will translate to a more effective governance. Let us all share the love,” Ibarra added.
