The Year of the Comish: No Resignation, Just Coming of Age for the Beloved SBMA Big Boss

New First Lady to be introduced soon. Abangan! Susunod! (August 2007)

MANILA, Philippines -- With a heart of daring young man diving headlong into a vast ocean of love, James Leonard Ibarra on Saturday reiterated his commitment to the league and extinguished reports of his possible resignation as commissioner of SBMA, pledging his unconditional love for the world's first ever virtual cage league.

"To show my love and devotion to the people who matter most to me, my family and all of my children, and to assure the league I truly care for, I am today pledging my unconditional love for my home, the SBMA and I'm not, I repeat, infinity times, I'm not tendering my immediate resignation, not once but twice!" Ibarra, his voice as high as an eagle can fly one big fight, read his statement before a jam-packed press conference at Decades Bar, Ana Roces Avenue.

"It is an easy decision, as easy as A-B-C, and I know that whatever happens, even if I have given my heart to someone special, I can continue to lead the league to greater heights. I have always believed that the SBMA is bigger than any one man, one team, one player or one team owner, and I'm just a piece of the puzzle," he continued.

Comish's statement came on the heels of an emergency board meeting Friday morning at a posh hotel in Cubao, Quezon City , where members of the board, reportedly met after the league top honcho revealed that he is now attached for the first time in league history.

A source who refused to be identified told tabloids, that the teams were both happy but worried that Comish will not have enough time for important league matters and that there will be a conflict of interest in his new blooming relationship.

A separate source said that, with the 2007 Protect 8 scheduled sometime in October, the board initially thought of tapping Barangay Captain Andre Cleofe to perform Ibarra's erstwhile capacity in an interim manner.

The next season opens October of this year with "Super Sunday" where all six teams will play simultaneously, including the newest league addition --- the Denver Nuggets.

The governors were all smiles after the presscon especially after Comish assured them that he will continue to serve the league and that he has found a new First Lady which he will introduce soon.

Okay yan, okay!” Empoy Chua, CEO and LA Governor exclaimed.

This is it! The time has come. I'm sure this wonderful blessing will translate to a more effective governance. Let us all share the love,” Ibarra added.

No Return, No Exchange for Phoenix says SBMA Board (August 2007)

The SBMA Board of Governors recently received a fax letter from the office of Mr. Francis Pua, former owner and CEO of the Phoenix Suns extending his wishes to return to the league. According to the eight-page handwritten letter, Mr. Pua (Francis and not Moses) is asking the Board for another chance for his ballclub to come back from the dead after its controversial ouster a few years ago.

Mr. Pua was found guilty of engaging in under the table talks with the Orlando Magic with regards to the transfer of some key players of the team, including prized forward Tim Duncan for the measly amount of P1,000.

Mr. Pua who was released on an $11,000,000 bond, initially faced a maximum of 69 years in prison when he was sentenced years back for conspiracy to engage in trade fraud. He paid a $7,500,000 fine and gave at least $22,000 in restitution to the SBMA. He was given pardon, two days after he attended Fr. Caluag's spirituality seminar at the 5-Kawit Classroom at David Hall.

After a two minute closed door meeting, the Board decided to deny Mr. Pua's request, citing the former governor's hectic schedule because of Med School.

Knock-out Thursday (2006 Suki-Puki Cup)

After splitting their regular season games, Chicago will again face the back-to-back champs, Orlando Magic. During their first meeting, Orlando pounced the Bulls as they swept the first half of the conference. But on their second game, the Bulls finally went on to break Orlando's streak as they faced a drunk team. Apparently, the whole Orlando squad came from a party before they were notified that they had a scheduled game. Because of this, the Lebron James led the Bulls as they mounted a 50 point lead and never looked back. And as the knock-out round fast approaches, the deciding game will tell who will go on to claim the number one spot.

2nd round re-sched

According to some of the governors and league officials, the New York Knicks Governor has been blamed to be the cause of delay (COD) of the continuation of the games. The governor is reportedly been busy with talking to a lot of people from the United States and giving directions in a different accent. Aside from that, he has been seen with a new loving partner. Details of their romantic redezvous will be posted on this website soon.

Because of this, some of the governors are quite weary since the arrival of the Live 06 is fast approaching. The original version set to arrive in the markets on Sept. 28 while its pirated version is yet to be seen in Greenhills.
